2006 Vintage
VineyardMThere is about 1 acre of these vines, planted in 1988 in the original ‘trial’ vineyard.
VintageMThe dry and warm vintage was about 4 weeks early as a consequence of the prolonged warm late summer & autumn temperatures. The yield was 2.5 tons total.
Winemaking
The hand-harvested grapes were chilled in small sealed containers, to 2°C, immediately after picking. Grapes were destemmed and crushed and transferred to the pneumatic press by elevator. The juice from the press was kept cold and clarified by settling, before being fermented with selected yeast in oak casks new & old both puncheons and pièces (450 & 228 litres). The fermented wine was matured in the oak for 9 months, until bottling.
Tasting Notes
White peach and subtle new oak fuse on nose, inviting you to taste this elegant wine. The palate does not let the aroma down. It has restrained, yet concentrated intense varietal fruit character with typical regional length on the finish. The wine would enhance fish and white meats.
